An independent evaluation was conducted to review the My Forever Family NSW program from its commencement in 2018 through to June 2023. The program is now known as Carers for Kids NSW, however the evaluation reports refer to the program by its former name. A summary report and the full evaluation report are available to download below.
The evaluation was commissioned by the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and undertaken by Insight Consulting Australia to assess the program’s effectiveness, identify areas for improvement and support ongoing development.
Findings from both the interim and final reports have informed continuous improvement of the program over time.
As a program focused on supporting carers within the NSW out-of-home care (OOHC) system – and, in turn, the children and young people in their care – we welcome the evaluation’s focus on what is working well for carers and where additional support can strengthen outcomes across the state.
